Zulfa Abrahams holds a BSc (Dietetics) degree from the University of the Western Cape. Her postgraduate qualifications include an MPH (Epidemiology) and a PhD (Medicine) from the University of Cape Town. Her experience in research was gained during her time working at the Medical Research Council where she worked on a school-based health intervention and at the Human Sciences Research Council where she worked on the South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES). Her PhD thesis is titled: Metabolic complications resulting from the use of antiretroviral therapy in HIV infected patients. She joined the PMHP in January 2017.
