The PMHP envisions mental health support for all mothers to promote their well-being, and that of their children and communities.
To achieve this aim, the PMHP partners with the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development and works with vulnerable women, civil society, international organisations and academic institutions to implement four inter-related programmes. These programmes develop an innovative model for integrated mental health services and include:
We develop, evaluate and optimise maternal mental health delivery systems through service provision at 3 maternity facilities.
We prepare and capacitate the maternity and social service environment to deliver maternal mental health services.
We generate evidence for the development and refinement of mental health service models and to inform the Project’s other 3 programmes.
We focus on raising awareness, evidence up-take and building momentum for quality state-provided maternal mental health service delivery.
